The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the state of North Dakota for its 2022 annual comprehensive financial report (ACFR).
“This is the 31st year North Dakota has received this national award. It is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication that the ACFR team puts into compiling this report and ensuring its accuracy,” said Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director, Susan Sisk. “This report gives us an in-depth look into the financial status of the state, contributing to the state’s ongoing commitment to financial transparency for our citizens.”
Sisk added that the small team at OMB works with fiscal professionals across state government to compile the report, and she extends her gratitude to state agencies for their continued partnerships.
The ACFR is required to be completed annually by OMB under N.D.C.C. 54-44-04.14.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
