State law requires a person that has a registration requirement with the Office of the Secretary of State to be registered before the contract is awarded and the registration must remain active for the duration of the contract period (N.D.C.C. § 54-44.4-09.1).
The Office of the Secretary of State’s registration and reporting requirements vary by business type. Please visit our Vendor Registration Guidelines and the Office of the Secretary of State’s Vendors webpage for more information on registration requirements and fees.
To determine if a vendor is registered with the Office of the Secretary of State, visit the Business Search on FirstStop, the Office of the Secretary of State’s online portal for business and licensing. For additional assistance, contact the Office of the Secretary of State by email or call 701.328.2900 (choose menu item 2, then option 1).
Vendors may need to obtain businesses licenses. NDSU has a list of licenses required of businesses in the state of North Dakota. The link includes information on who to contact, application fees, renewal dates and the legal reference.
