General safety recommendations have been established for state employees and visitors to the ND State Capitol. Also, a Capitol Complex emergency plan has been developed to ensure the safe and controlled evacuation of employees and the public from all areas of the capitol building (including all meeting rooms, cafeteria and other capitol complex buildings) in the event of a fire, tornado or bomb threat. The need for partial or total evacuation will be determined by the person in charge and in the building at the time of the emergency.

  • If you receive a bomb threat, use SFN 51502 Bomb Threat Report form to question the caller if possible, and immediately report the call to the ND Highway Patrol Command Center at 701.328.2464 or call 9.911.
  • In a heart attack emergency, there are Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) located in the elevator lobbies on all floors of the capitol building, and on all floors of all buildings on the Capitol Complex.
  • The after hours policy for state employees aids in securing the capitol building while allowing employees access to the building outside of normal work hours.

If you have questions or need assistance regarding the Capitol Complex Policies, call 701.328.2471 or email Facility Management.
